Our Testing Verdict: Plastic-Free Floss That Actually Holds Up
We've used this bamboo floss for more than a year, and intend to keep doing so. It doesn't shred, and very rarely snaps, even between tight teeth. The stainless steel cutter tears a clean piece every time, and the smooth feel of the glass jar is a welcome change from those flimsy one-use plastic cases. Refilling takes seconds: unscrew the lid, drop in a new spool, thread it through the lid, and screw it back on. The jar is small enough to toss in a toiletry bag, so it's also our go-to for travel.
Why We Love It:
Most conventional floss is nylon or PTFE, which are both plastics, and comes in a plastic dispenser that gets thrown away. This floss is made from bamboo fiber coated in plant-based candelilla wax, so it glides smoothly between teeth and along the gumline. It comes in a refillable glass jar with a stainless steel cutter. How to Use
- Pull out 12 to 18 inches of floss and tear it off with the built-in metal cutter.
- Wrap the ends around your fingers and gently guide the floss between your teeth, curving it along the gumline.
- Rinse your mouth after flossing.
Storage & Refills
- Keep the jar in a cool, dry place between uses.
- When the spool runs out, unscrew the lid, drop in a refill spool, and thread the end through the lid.
- Put used floss in your compost when possible.
