Ordering & Delivery
Where do you deliver?
We currently ship anywhere in the U.S. For local customers in Chapel Hill and Carrboro, NC, we offer hand-delivery on orders over $15 (plastic-free, of course!).
How much does shipping cost?
- Free shipping on all orders over $50
- Flat rate shipping of $6.95 on orders up to $29.99
- Flat rate shipping of $8.95 on orders up to $49.99
How long will my order take?
We process orders within 1–3 business days. Shipping times vary by carrier, but you’ll get tracking info as soon as your order is on its way.
Do you deliver to UNC dorms or apartments?
Yes! Just make sure to include the full dorm/apartment address at checkout, and we’ll hand-deliver if you’re in our local zone.
Bottle Refill Service
How does the refill delivery service work?
If you live in Chapel Hill or Carrboro, you can order refillable soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and lotions. We’ll deliver them to your door in reusable bottles.
What do I do with my empty bottles?
On your assigned refill day, simply place your clean, empty bottles of the correct size (either the original bottle you purchased or another appropriately sized container) outside in the spot you’d like us to return them to. Please make sure bottles are rinsed and free of leftover product. We’ll drive up, refill them directly from our refill containers in the delivery vehicle, and leave them back where you set them out.
What if I forget to leave my empties out?
No problem! Just keep them until the next scheduled refill delivery date for your area, and we’ll top them up then.
Products & Sustainability
Are your products completely plastic-free?
Our priority is to offer products that are truly plastic-free or refillable. In a few cases, a small amount of plastic is necessary for the product to be safe and reusable - for example, the pumps on refill bottles. Whenever that’s the case, we’ll always be transparent and clearly note it in the product description.
Where do you source your products?
We partner with small, values-driven companies and makers - many of them right here in North Carolina - who share our commitment to sustainability. We carefully select items that are durable, reusable, and responsibly packaged. Whenever possible, our products are made from materials that are compostable or decompose without leaving microplastics behind.
How do you package orders?
Always plastic-free. We use recycled cardboard boxes, kraft paper, shredded cardboard, and paper tape. Everything is recyclable or compostable.
Why not just use biodegradable plastics?
“Biodegradable” plastics often don’t break down as promised, or need 'industrial' composting conditions, and can leave behind harmful microplastics. We avoid them in favor of materials that are truly reusable, recyclable, or compostable.
Returns & Refunds
Can I return personal care or beauty products?
For hygiene and safety reasons, all personal care and beauty items are final sale. If something arrives damaged or defective, contact us and we’ll make it right.
What about other items?
Most unused items in original condition can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Just email us at hello@plasticfreeprovisions.com to start the process.

Yes! Many of our items make thoughtful eco-friendly gifts. You can also add a note at checkout if you’d like us to include a handwritten message.
